Chimurenga Chronic: Brandfort, Liberation Capital [1977-86] (April, 2025)

For 25 years Deep South, run by Robert Berold, has been publishing bold and risk-taking South African poetry, regardless of its 'marketability'.

Deep South has published books by Ari Sitas, Seitlhamo Motsapi, Lesego Rampolokeng, Kelwyn Sole, Mxolisi Nyezwa, Angifi Dladla, Joan Metelerkamp, Vonani Bila, Khulile Nxumalo, Isabella Motadinyane, Alan Finlay, Mangaliso Buzani, Haidee Kotze, and several other fine poets.

With over 40 books published: mostly poetry, but some novels, Deep South do what all good writing can do – open new ways of seeing the world.
