We mourn the departure of Louis Moholo-Moholo. Legendary South African drummer and jazz musician, Moholo was the last-standing pillar of The Blue Notes.

Always ever-defiant to the oppressive regimes, Louis Moholo’s legacy as a musical and political icon will not easily be forgotten. The persistence of Moholo and the ensemble in expressing their defiance against the apartheid state pushed the group into exile in the mid 1960’s where the group ignited the free jazz scene, influencing the school of music for years to come.
