LIBERATION RADIO: TUMI MOGOROSI’S GROUP THEORY:BLACK MUSIC

Tumi Mogorosi’s Group Theory:Black Music is the latest episode in the Stories About Music in Africa series. Held at the Chimurenga Factory on 22 October 2022, it continued the exploration into South Africa’s longstanding chorale tradition from Mogorosi’s debut album Project Elo. Mogorosi was joined by vocalist Themba Maseko, who directed the voices of Busisiwe Phetoe, Forunate Jwara and Brenda Thulo, as well as Gabisile Motuba (vocals), Reza Khota (guitar), Dalisu Ndlazi (bass), Mthunzi Mvubu (alto sax) and Tumi Pheko (trumpet). With special features by Ernest Dawkins (sax) and Siyabonga Mthembu (vocals)
