REZA KHOTA QUARTET: RESILIENCE TOUR

Join us for a live performance at Chimurenga Factory with the Reza Khota Quartet – Reza Khota (guitar), Shane Cooper (bass), Jonno Sweetman (drums) and Buddy Wells (saxophone) Friday 12 September 2025

Centred on 18 years of musical collaboration between bandleader Reza Khota with Shane Cooper and Jonno Sweetman, later joined by Buddy Wells. The quartet delves into the sonic spaces between jazz, rock, Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz and music beyond classification, exploring the question: how to make a sound together – both in the realms of affect and temporality?

The band will perform songs from their album releases Transmutation (2013) and Liminal (2018), as well as new compositions – including a tribute to Thomas Mapfumo and Resilience (Sumud), dedicated to the liberatory call of the Palestinian people and all oppressed people of the world.

Friday, 15 September 2025 from 7pm
Chimurenga Factory (157 Victoria Road, Woodstock, Cape Town)
