pumflet: Summer Flowers
pumflet was co-founded by architect Ilze Wolff and artist Kemang Wa Lehulere in 2016. It exists to publish interventions into the social imaginary. It is a site-specific, project-based publication series exploring the social imagination and stories of neighbourhoods, and reflecting on histories of the present.
pumflet: Summer Flowers was commissioned by the 2019 Chicago Architectural Biennial. It refers to the work of writer Bessie Head and gets its name from the initial title of her novel, A Question of Power. The project extends Head's legacy as a novelist, letter writer and essayist into the realm of spatial practice by looking at her contribution into architecture and agriculture.
